What Love Looks Like..

Currently, my husband and I are counseling a few folks regarding relationships. In the course of conversations, we hear similar themes play out time and again. The theme of “If he/she really loved me, they would not act this way, do this or that” .. To which, the other responds, “If you would stop doing this or that, I would stop too”… and around and around we go.. The blame game. The ole, if you do x, then I will do y song. The deal maker, the bargaining, negotiating etc.. You name it, we’ve really kind of heard it all. blame game

When I hear couples speak in such a way, I have to inwardly cringe, then, smile recalling that before I became grounded in the Lord, and put through some serious situations in my own relationship, my husband and I could and would act the same way!

Then I take a deep breath, pray and say what God has put on my heart to say to the individual, couple etc..

I am so very thankful that Jesus Christ did not play the blame game. I am grateful that He sacrificed Himself and gave up dimensions of His being that we may never know about! All because He extended to us LOVE in place of blame and took away our sin and shame! THAT is what LOVE looks like my friends. THAT is LOVE. To put aside pride, personal feelings and just forgive. To extend grace and mercy to those who don’t deserve it.

THAT is LOVE. Christ-like LOVE.

Christ_CarryingCross

This photo is the closest I could find and doesn’t even come close to accurately depicting the suffering of Jesus according to scripture.

When I challenge folks with that kind of love.. I often hear.. “They did this and that to me! Could YOU forgive THAT?” To which, I respond, “Yes! Because, I have been forgiven, I too forgive those who trespass against me!” “I have and will continue to forgive because Jesus Christ, was taken to be scourged, beaten to the point that His face no longer bore any resemblance of a man, then the Roman soldiers wove a crown of thorns (not just rosebush kind of thorns) Jerusalem thorns which are very long, thick and sharp! Felt the need to smash it down on His already beaten and bloody head and brow…

THEN

made to carry a heavy wooden cross to the point of collapse so that Simon of Sirene had to take it up and carry it for Him! Then to be laid on said cross and NAILED to IT! Hanging there, scourged, beaten, practically disemboweled, lungs crushing under the weight of hanging there… He suffered in AGONY!

Let’s pause a minute.. I can’t see through my tears.. My heart is aching and burning, Forget the clean, peaceful looking crucifixes of Jesus on the cross.. They are not reality. In my very humble opinion, too much artistic license has been taken to “clean up the cross” so to speak. It gives a sanitary and far too watered down image. It does no one’s soul any good to look upon a peaceful Jesus hanging on a cross…  OK now back to the article…

And died for me. Me! Jesus Christ died BECAUSE OF ME and FOR ME! An undeserving, sinning, wretch! My sins helped hang Him on that cross” So YES!!! I CAN AND DO FORGIVE!! Anything less is unthinkable. Ilovedyouatyourdarkest

When we do not forgive others, we are telling God what He did, by sacrificing His son for us, wasn’t enough. Nope.. sorry God, not good enough… WHAT?! I would hate to be you when you stand in front of Him at the end of your days. (Just sayin’)

So now that I have painted that picture.. What do you think? You think you are still in a position to point a finger? Not forgive? Not live in peace with your loved ones? Friends? Even strangers? I will leave it there and let your own conscience and convictions take it from here…..

Here Again…

Well… As I look around this place, I see that I need to clear some cob webs, update content and fire up the ole blog engine again! I had fallen ill for several months and now am back on the job!

Praise God that He saw me through and I can now return to caring for this blog and redouble our efforts in this ministry. The ministry never stopped, just ebbed, flowed, slowed and is now rejuvenating in exciting new ways.. but alas, that is a blog article unto itself.

  4. We are working on our non-profit status in earnest (finally)
  5. We are growing!
  6. We are grateful for all that the Lord has seen us through in these years and look forward to serving Him for as long as He continues to allow our hearts to beat and sustains breath in our lungs!

Why We Pray

If you think about it, we pray for 3 main reasons. Need, Want and Fear.fb_img_1475929400329

How many times do we pray just to thank the Lord, check to see if we are where He wants us to be, or praying for wisdom and to be still to hear His still small voice?

I can tell you from my own experience, probably not a whole lot. Life gets busy, noisy, urgent.

As believers, we need to make the concerted effort to truly put God first and foremost in our lives. To be still and listen for that still small voice. He speaks volumes of wisdom, guidance, love, correction, healing…

Remember this. We always have time for the things we put first. Where is God in your life?

Selah.. think on these things. I know I will.

Today Is THE DAY!

ForgiveYourself

Today, in Christ, you are a new creation! Put off the old you and allow yourself to be clothed in His glory and righteousness!

Go forth and carry out HIS plans for your life, put your own ideas aside and meditate on the life that God has laid out for you from the foundations of the Earth!  You will be blessed.

He uses the imperfect to carry out His perfect plans.

Have a blessed day! <><

What Do You Want To Be Known For?

A few months ago, I ordered a small, rare treat for myself from a friend’s company.WhatDoYouWantToBeKnownFor

Inside the wonderfully wrapped box, was this card. It impacted me so much, that I have it standing up on my small dresser jewelry box. I positioned it so I can see it each and every morning.

Some days,I contemplate these words more than others.

The beauty of this question is that it challenges us to really consider who we now are and who we want to become. The person known for X…. great things.

Here is my personal answer to this question. I simply want to be known for excellence in service. That’s it. Period.

Excellence in service to my LORD. Whatever that looks like, whatever the work of my hands are, THAT is what I want to be known for.

What about you?

Mia’s Testimony

MIA’S STORY

My name is now “Puella Mia” which means “My Girl” in a language called Latin. My name used to be “Muchacha Grande”. I am an ex-race horse who, despite great bloodlines, did not like to race. You may have heard of some of my relatives, “Native Dancer“, “Bold Ruler“…

I was involved in a pretty bad horse trailer accident a few days before I was sold for slaughter. I was in the meat pen and really did not care if I lived another day or died.

I was very thin and had many wounds and abrasions all over my body. A woman named “Kelly” bought me from the kill broker and took me to her place called a “rescue”. After a few short weeks, I felt completely different! Kelly kept me for about a year and had the vet treat my wounds. Then just recently, on August 9th 2012, a very nice family came to take me to their barn and make me a part of their family!

I just love getting attention, treats and to be groomed. I am very thankful for my second chance at life, and now I am blessed to be able to help children overcome their own wounds inside and out!

Would you please help us continue this work with the kids? I really love this new life and want to keep helping kids and their families! Any amount is a true blessing! All donations go directly towards my care and feeding. Thank you and God bless!

XOXO

Love, Puella Mia A.K.A. “Mia”

Pogo’s Testimony

POGO’S STORY

My name is Pogo. I was sent to the kill pen bound for slaughter in February 2007. I was labeled as an “Outlaw Horse” which, in the horse world means, that people thought that I was dangerous and not trainable.

They gave up on me. What they didn’t realize was that I was horribly abused and fearful of people and what they might do to me next.

My actions were because I was afraid and just protecting myself. I never meant to hurt anyone.

Some nice people came to see me two days before I was scheduled to be shipped to slaughter. I liked them right away and followed them willingly onto a nice two-horse trailer. I knew then that my life was saved. The kill broker was not very happy that I loaded so easily for these nice people, but gave him and his brother-in-law three hours of hard work getting me on to their trailer.

It wasn’t easy adjusting to my new life and trusting these new people but, as you can tell we made it. I am very thankful for my second chance at life, and now I am blessed to be able to help children who are abused, at-risk and mislabeled!

Would you please help us continue this work with the kids? I really love this new life and want to keep helping kids and their families! Any amount is a true blessing! All donations go directly towards my care and feeding. Thank you and God bless!

Lady’s Testimony

LADY’S STORY

My name is Lady. I was rescued at the age of three along with my son, a three month old colt. We were purchased from the New Holland Livestock Auction on September 6th 2003. My son and I were brought to a stable in the city.

I was scared and shy and blind in one eye. I was meant to be a little girl’s pony but, was very green which means, I did not know very much about carrying a human on my back.

Several months went by and I remained scared and shy. I did not want many people near me or my baby. On July 4th 2004 a nice family stopped by to say hello to some old friends.

Their eleven year old daughter just came up to my stall and I liked her right away. She and her family took care of me from then on. They taught me how to accept a rider and all the other things a brave pony should know. I was not so afraid any longer.

I am very thankful for my second chance at life, and now I am blessed to be able to help children overcome their own fears! I just LOVE when people, especially children, show me love and attention!

Look out! I may frisk your pockets *smile*

Would you please help us continue this work with the kids? I really love this new life and want to keep helping kids and their families! Any amount is a true blessing! All donations go directly towards my care and feeding. Thank you and God bless!

XOXO

Love, Lady
